Midwest Book Review says p.m.terrell "has effortlessly set herself at the top of the ranks of suspense writers" and "Terrell wastes no words as she brings to life the peril and suspense her characters face. Strong dialogue and vivid characters, coupled with detailed setting, work seamlessly..." Read the entire article in the Midwest Book Review.
This historical novel was inspired by the true story of Mary Neely, who was captured by Shawnee warriors in 1780 near Fort Nashborough (now Nashville, TN). This book details her capture and her two years in captivity, her eventual escape in Northern Michigan, and her journey home alone over hundreds of miles of war-torn country and through hostile Indian Territory. It is the story of a young woman who was renamed "Songbird" for her beautiful voice, but who never gave up hope of escape, never knowing how close she was to both death and freedom.

Midwest Book Reviews says Songbirds is "Historical writing at its best" and "Terrell's writing is strong, her research impeccable." Read the entire review. And Canadian reviewer Simon Barrett says about Songbirds, "The writing is impeccable, the subject well researched, the fiction well developed and innovative, but most of all, it is a 'cannot put down' read."
